Shock deal on the table as Leeds United close in on signing £100,000-a-week star

The transfer window has closed, and Leeds United have failed to address a big issue from their first few games of the season. Daniel Farke expected some arrivals on deadline day but things did not go according to plan.

Despite having a strong start to the season at home, there has been a goalscoring issue at the club. Leeds have only scored two goals in four matches, with one coming from the penalty spot. The Leeds defence has been solid, outside the five goals conceded away to Arsenal.

The signings in attack have been underwhelming so far, as pointed out by Jeff Stelling:

“I can’t get excited over any of their signings. Leeds United. I just don’t know who is going to score the goals for them. I can’t get excited over James Justin, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor and so on.

”For me, they needed strikers they could rely on to get goals. Calvert-Lewin, you can’t rely on.”

Leeds United eye move for Josh Brownhill

Even with the transfer window shut, clubs are allowed to sign free agents. And after the shambles of the latter part of the summer window, Leeds could dip into that market for a new addition.

According to Fraser Fletcher, the Whites are seriously considering a move for Josh Brownhill. The former Burnley midfielder has been in high demand in this past window. But Brownhill still remains unattached.

The report adds that he turned down a move to Leicester, as many wonder where his next move could be.

Will Leeds pay him £100,000 a week?

There were reports that Al Shabab had an offer of £100,000-a-week on the table for the former Burnley player. But if Leeds are interested in signing him, the club would not pay that much. After offloading Patrick Bamford’s huge contract, it would not be a smart decision to hand another signing that kind of money considering he will not be guaranteed to score 18 goals in the Premier League.
