There were a few Leeds United stars called up for international duty at senior level over the break. But Anton Stach was not one of them, despite his brilliant start to the season. According to reports, his situation could change very soon. Sport BILD are reporting that the midfielder is in the mix to make the Germany squad for the upcoming World Cup.
Stach is a part of a ‘shadow squad’ for Julian Nagelsmann; which includes a list of players just on the outside of the squad knocking on the door. BILD claims that the Leeds star could see a callup as soon as the next international break.
Daniel Farke was right
When Anton Stach arrived at the club, Farke was full of praise for the midfielder. But one thing the Leeds boss said went under the radar; he hinted that Stach’s performances could be key to getting back into the Germany fold:
“He has already made a few appearances in the German national team, and also, his main topic is to give himself a chance to come close to play in the World Cup, perhaps. And for that, he knows he needs to start games in the Premier League and to perform. He’s in a great age – this is quite important, although he is experienced with more than 100 Bundesliga games, he’s still on the way up, and has to develop, more or less from year to year. We all got the feeling it’s a really, really good addition, but before we all are allowed to sing the praises he has to deliver on the pitch and hopefully he can repay our trust.”
