Leeds United are in the market for more attacking signings as Daniel Farke pushes to bring in two more forwards before the end of the transfer window. The club are working on a couple of deals, and hope to secure a few more fresh faces before next week’s transfer deadline.
The Whites crashed out of the EFL Cup following a defeat at Sheffield Wednesday. Leeds looked bereft of creativity as the Championship side knocked them out on penalties, and the defeat underlined the team’s need for more flair and creativity in the final third for the rest of the season.
Farke is keen to bring in two more attackers before the end of the transfer window. He would prefer to sign one more striker and a versatile attacking player who can play in the wings as well as behind the forward as a number 10.
Leeds are considering several forwards and assessing their options before making a concrete move to secure one or two of their targets before the September 1st transfer deadline.

Leeds United target Fotis Ioannidis’ transfer stalls

Fotis Ioannidis is one of the strikers Leeds are tracking, and the club are considering making a move for him before the end of the summer transfer window.
However, Sporting Lisbon are the ones who are doing all the running for the Panathinaikos striker, and have agreed on personal terms on a contract with him.
The two clubs have also been talking over a fee, but a deal to take the forward to Portugal has stalled due to the difference between Sporting Lisbon and Panathinaikos
According to the Greek outlet Sportime, Panathinaikos have a certain price in mind, and it is yet to be met.
It has been claimed that the Greek giants want a fee of around £22m before agreeing to sanction his sale before the end of the summer transfer window.
Sporting Lisbon are yet to get anywhere close to the figure, and Panathinaikos are prepared to dig their heels in to get the money they want.
It remains to be seen whether Leeds get involved in the race and decide to meet the Greek giants’ asking price for Ioannidis.
Do Leeds have the funds to sign one more striker?
It is clear from Tuesday night’s performance that Leeds need more firepower and creativity in the final third, given their struggles against a Championship side.
Farke wants a versatile attacking midfielder and a striker, but it is uncertain whether Leeds have the funds for two more attackers this late in the window.
Leeds have already spent more than £100m on ten new signings, and the arrival of a striker could depend on sales in the coming days.
There are also no guarantees that Leeds are prepared to spend more than £20m on a striker before the September 1st transfer deadline.
