Leeds United once again found out how difficult it is to get a result in the Premier League. Daniel Farke’s side came up short away from home to a difficult Fulham side.
The game was in the balance for most of the 90 minutes. Leeds United controlled the game for 55 minutes but never truly threatened to score, only to suffer a late heartbreak when a Gabriel Gudmundsson own goal struck in the fourth minute of stoppage time, despite Karl Darlow’s two exceptional saves keeping Fulham at bay throughout the match.
But ultimately, the lack of attacking potency up front cost the team. Leeds did not seem to trouble the Londoners as they were allowed to have a lot of the ball, only producing half chances. The best opportunities of the game fell to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who failed to convert as he continues to struggle early in the season.
It took an unfortunate own goal in the dying minutes of the game to hand Fulham their first three points of the season.

At the start of the game, Leeds’ preparation was already thrown off – the Whites arrived late to Craven Cottage. The Sun’s Justin Allen reported that Daniel Farke’s side arrived around half an hour late. Jack Kelly also reported that the club had not reached on time, but states that it was 20 minutes rather than 30.

It appears the Leeds players have only just arrived. Seems as if they’re about 20 minutes late. #FFC

The lineup before the game raised a lot of eyebrows, but ultimately Daniel Farke’s gamble did not pay off.
Did the late arrival affect the game?
Arriving late at an away game will always cause some disruptions. Getting to the venue early allows the staff and players to properly go over match notes and familiarize themselves with the stadium. Leeds getting to London late meant they probably had to rush their programme they planned for the day. Ultimately, Daniel Farke’s side had a bad result, which the fans can easily place blame on this incident.
