Sky pundit says Leeds fans will make life difficult for Patrick Bamford

Patrick Bamford has every reason to be pleased with himself, coming off the back of his best scoring season as a Leeds United player. However, ex Aston Villa striker Darren Bent has suggested that he may find life more difficult in the upcoming season.

Bamford scored 16 goals in Leeds’ promotion season before improving upon that total with 17 goals last season. This tally meant he was the 4th top scorer in the league, second only to Harry Kane amongst English players.

Darren Bent has theorised that one of the reasons that Bamford was so successful was due to the lack of fans in the stadium getting on his back. “There was no criticism from the terraces, so you can just go about your business.”

He warned that expectations will be higher for Bamford this season than the last. “the fans are thinking ‘if you got 17 last season, you have got to do it again this season’. Again, the level of expectation goes up.” Questions were raised about whether Bamford would be able to perform in the Premier League but now that he’s proved he can, fans will be expecting him to do so again and Bent has doubts about whether the Leeds fans will allow Bamford to get comfortable if the goals begin to dry up.
