Leeds United fans will be proud of their club’s turnaround in fortune over the past few weeks. Coming from the last international break, they had a tough schedule ahead of them.
Everyone expected them to fail to get any meaningful points on the board, and it was even worse as Daniel Farke was under pressure of being sacked. But since the defeat to Manchester City, the team has found a new gear and are one of the most in-form sides in the Premier League.
The Whites have now gone five games unbeaten after holding Sunderland to a draw at the Stadium of Light on Sunday afternoon.
Sky Sports present confused about VAR missing incident in Leeds United game
But the result was not without controversy; many fans were baffled that in the first 20 minutes of the game, Joe Rodon was caught by stiff challenges from the Sunderland players. The second of which, from Simon Adingra, was too much and the defender had to call the bench to be substituted.
On the replay, the challenge from Adingra was very reckless, which lead Michael Bridges to ask why VAR never took a look at it in-game. The Sunderland player left a trailing leg which caught Rodon’s ankle in a very bad way.
“This one is a lot worse for Rodon. Adingra doesn’t catch him with the first leg, it’s the trailing leg again.” Bridges said on Sky Sports.
“It’s not nice. I can’t see Rodon coming back from that one.”
“I can understand why the first one wasn’t given as a yellow card, because there was no intent there.
“But this second one, because Adingra is so close to him, it should go to VAR to have a look at that. It’s nasty.”

Daniel Farke will rue missed chances
A draw would be the result that both sides will take, but there is no doubt that Leeds could have stolen a win on Sunday. The Whites created the most chances, and had the most expected goals in the match.
| Statistic | Sunderland | Leeds United |
|---|---|---|
| Goals | 1 | 1 |
| Expected Goals | 0.65 | 2.03 |
| Big Chances | 1 | 4 |
| Shots on Target | 3 | 6 |
However, their finishing let them down time and time again. Brenden Aaronson nearly scored but Hume got back onto the line with an incredible block to save the goal. Jayden Bogle also somehow missed at the far post as he tried to cushion the ball instead of taking it on first time. Farke’s men had enough chances to win the game, and should have been more clinical.
