Last summer was a brutal one for Leeds United fans. They missed out on automatic promotion, lost the Championship play off finals and the summer transfer window was just awful.
Failing to secure Premier League football saw the departure of two of the club’s brightest talents over the last five years. Crysencio Summerville broke into the Leeds United team in the Premier League, and continued to grow when the club was relegated to the Championship. The winger had 20 goals and nine assists as he won EFL Championship player of the year. Archie Gray, another talent who had risen up the ranks, also left the club that summer.

Gray had a great breakout season last year, won Leeds United player of the year. The youngster was also named in the EFL Championship Team of the season. He was then sold in the summer after Tottenham Hotspure bid over £40million.
Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman believes Harry Gray should gain valuable first team experience, like his brother, before attempting to leave Elland Road in the future:
“Personally, I don’t think Spurs are going to be on their own when it comes to high-end clubs scouting Harry Gray. The reports coming out of Elland Road are sensational, in that this could be a very special talent, maybe even more so than his brother Archie, which would be an incredible feat.” he said to Football League World.
“At the moment though, it’s about playing football week in, week out and learning your trade. I think if Spurs did sign him, you would imagine it would be possible that they would loan him back to Leeds or a team where he would play regular first team football.
“At that age, you need a slow, considered introduction to football, where you’re not overworked, but you get plenty of opportunities at first-team level.”
Harry Gray is just 16 years old with one first team appearance to his name.
Leeds need to tie down Harry Gray
The club have already lost an academy talent that the fanbase fell in love with. And now, history looks like it is about to repeat itself. Just like Archie Gray left for Spurs, the London club are now keeping an eye on Harry’s development with a view to a move in the near future.
Leeds need to do everything possible to keep Harry Gray at the club for the long term future.
