Sky Sports pundit slams 49ers over Daniel Farke situation – Leeds United need to clear the air

Leeds United will return to the Premier League for the first time since 2023 after the results of last week. Sheffield United failed to beat Burnley which meant the Whites had secured their automatic promotion spot.

Since then, Leeds have gone on to beat Bristol City 4-0 in another great performance at Elland Road. In between these results, some shocking news has emerged from West Yorkshire. Multiple reports claimed that Daniel Farke will be sacked this summer, with the 49ers looking for an experienced coach to handle the team in the Premier League.

The decision will reportedly be taken because of Farke’s poor record in the top flight. Real Madrid assistant coach Davide Ancelotti is one of the names linked to the hot seat.

Former Former Cardiff and Reading Jobi McAnuff has criticized the 49ers for not publicly backing Daniel Farke since the news came out:

“Yeah, and he should have had it by now.

“Obviously the rumours have come from somewhere. I’m not saying it’s come directly from Leeds United or anywhere inside, it might be a journalist.” He said speaking to Football Insider.

“But I do feel [the 49ers] got a duty to [Farke] in this period of time to come out and back him if he is to be the man to take you forward, and I have no doubt in my mind that he should be.

“He’s earned that, not just this season. You have to go back to last season Jules [Warren]. The club was a mess. Remember the start of last season?”

McAnuff then asks how the players and the staff feel everyday they go to work with the Leeds boss.

“There was players going out the door every other day and he didn’t know who he was going to have to work with. He’s had to rebuild the squad, and he’s done that brilliantly.

“For me, sitting here today, it just doesn’t sit well with me, in this moment now. And I think you can see it with him, because he doesn’t want to commit, he doesn’t want to go hard on what he’s achieved or where the club’s gonna go, and that shouldn’t be the case because he’s done his job.”

McAnuff is right about the Farke situation

It has been days since a major report from a news outlet in England put out the story. Since then, no information or statement has been brought out. Meanwhile, the 49ers have released statements about their future with the club after the Rangers debacle. And even on Tuesday night, the club website published the major restructuring in the team leadership.

Not addressing Daniel Farke’s future, even through a source within the club, is a shame. Considering what the German coach has done with the team over the past two years. Daniel Farke needs to be supported, and not ignored.
