Source claims Leeds United have not made an offer for European star – huge blow this summer

Leeds United have been shopping in England for the last two seasons. Since Daniel Farke took over, the focus has been mostly on signings across the EFL.

Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and Jayden Bogle are some recent additions. Farke has pushed the club to explore some signings outside England. Last season, Leeds signed Isaac Schmidt from Switzerland, Largie Ramazani from Spain and Ao Tanaka from Germany.

It looks like the club will expand their scouting this summer as they look to add major quality ahead of next season.

Local media deny Leeds United links

Over the last week, Leeds have been linked with a move for Krasnodar star Eduard Spertsyan. It was said that the Whites were keen on reviving a move for the 24-year old this summer.

But there has been a major development. According to Championat in Russia, there has been no contact over a move for the Armenian international. The local outlet contacted a source close to the club who denied the links:

“The English club has not sent and does not plan to send an offer for the player in the summer, despite specific interest in the player in the winter.”

The outlet did not add if Leeds plan to pursue a move sometime later in the summer.

Daniel Farke needs some creativity in the middle of the park

Brenden Aaronson played most of the campaign as the clubs number 10. The American had a decent season, and showed a creative side that fans had not seen in a while. But the rest of the midfield was a bit of a concern.

In the Championship this season, Aaronson and Joe Rothwell were the only midfielders at the club who managed more than 60 key passes. Going into next season, the club would need an upgrade in such areas. For a team to score goals, they need to create a lot. Leeds know they will not dominate games, so getting midfielders like Eduard Spertsyan would have been the key to unlock defences.
