St. Mirren eye McCalmont loan deal

According to the Daily Record, Scottish side St. Mirren are interested in a potential loan deal for Alfie McCalmont.

The report says the Scottish Premiership club are looking to add a midfielder to the squad in January. St. Mirren manager Stephen Robinson is keen on brining in McCalmont, as the due have previously worked together at Morecambe. The 22-year-old had a successful loan spell with Robinson during his time at Morecambe, with the midfielder making 31 appearances for the Shrimps.

It is understood that Leeds will not stand in the way, they are willing to let McCalmont go out on loan for more playing time.

McCalmont is back after two loan spells at Oldham and Morecambe. He showed his true potential on loan at Oldham, scoring 15 goals in 39 games and earning Northern Ireland caps over that period. With the midfielder’s contract set to run out in 2024, a loan deal is the best for all parties.
