Staggering cost of Daniel Farke replacement revealed — Leeds United must pay up

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke is under pressure after a torrid run of form, which has seen his side lose four of their last five Premier League matches, including defeats against relegation rivals Burnley and Nottingham Forest.

There were question marks around Farke going into the Premier League season because of his previous poor record in the top flight. However, the 49ers decided to back the man who got Leeds promoted.

But patience is now wearing thin in the Leeds boardroom, and there are suggestions that if results do not improve in the next four games, Farke is likely to get sacked.

There are already names who are being linked with a move to Leeds. Brendan Rodgers is one of the favourites to replace Farke, but the former Liverpool and Celtic boss won’t come cheap.

Daniel Farke replacement will cost a fortune for Leeds

Brendan Rodgers is available in the market after he left Celtic under acrimonious circumstances following a major falling-out with the club’s board.

The Northern Irishman has major Premier League experience and wants to return to managing in the English top flight for his next job.

He has been heavily linked with a move to Leeds and is seen as one of the obvious choices to replace Farke, if the Whites decide to go in that direction in the coming weeks.

However, any move for Farke would have to come with the reality of his wage demands, which would be expensive for Leeds.

According to journalist James Marshment, the last time Rodgers was managing in the Premier League, he earned a salary worth £8m a year at Leicester City.

The figure is four times the money Farke is earning at Leeds at the moment.

One would think Rodgers would agree to take a pay cut, given his willingness to return to management in the Premier League as soon as possible.

However, he would still demand significantly more money than what Leeds are paying for their manager at this moment.

The 49ers should dig deep if they want Rodgers

There is a feeling that Farke is not going to be at Leeds for too long. The upcoming fixtures, coupled with the obvious problems in his team, are likely to result in his sacking.

Leeds have been linked with moves for Marco Rose and Bo Svensson. However, the club need some Premier League experience and this is where Rodgers comes into the reckoning.

He is seen as the favourite not only because of his record, but also for his experience of managing teams in the Premier League at both ends of the table.

He is also likely to be one of the more expensive options, but this is where the 49ers cannot afford to do things on the cheap.

If Farke gets sacked, it means the owners are worried about going back down to the Championship, which could have long-term financial implications on the club’s ambitions.

The 49ers must get the best available manager for Leeds, and if they believe Rodgers is that man, the Leeds owners should push the financial envelope to take him to Elland Road.
