Leeds United are expected to add firepower to their squad in the summer if they get promoted to the Premier League as anticipated at this stage of the season. The Whites are aware that they need quality addition in all areas of their squad if they have to survive but more importantly, they need strikers who can regularly hit the back of the net in the top flight next season. They have already been linked with a move for several forwards including Newcastle’s Callum Wilson but they appear to be looking at four attackers who could come in and hopefully make a difference in the Premier League for the Yorkshire giants.
Daniel Farke and his team are focused on the job at hand and are looking to sew up promotion to the Premier League in the coming weeks and months.
The Leeds boss has admitted that 20 more points from their remaining 13 league games should be enough to ensure automatic promotion to the top flight of English football.
Farke and his team would not want to admit and tempt fate, but even the manager and the squad know they are closing in on getting promoted to the Premier League this season.
Leeds’ recruitment team have already gone to work to set up deals in anticipation of promotion and the club appear to be moving forward in their attempt to sign a striker in the summer.
According to TEAMTalk, Leeds have drawn up a four-man shortlist of strikers ahead of the next transfer window.
Cameron Archer – Leeds United wanted him in January
Leeds were interested in taking Archer to Elland Road in the winter transfer window. However, their offer of a loan with the option to buy was rejected by Southampton.
With the Saints almost certain to get relegated, Archer is set to be available in the summer and the forward is said to be keen on a move to Elland Road.
Leeds are keeping tabs on him but it is unclear whether they would push to sign him given his poor record in the Premier League this season and their need for more proven performers at that level.
Josh Sargent – would welcome an offer from a Premier League club
Josh Sargent has been a proven performer in the Championship for Norwich and has nine goals this season in the league. Daniel Farke admires the forward and it would make sense if he wants him.
However, his previous experience in the Premier League was bitter. The forward scored just twice in 26 games as Norwich got relegated from the Premier League.
Can you name the missing sponsor on these 10 Leeds United shirts?
He has more than three years left on his contract and Norwich would be unwilling to sell him for a small fee even if they do not get promoted via the playoffs.
Leeds would not want to spend big money on a striker who flattered to deceive in the top flight previously.
Evann Guessand – the unknown commodity from Europe
Ao Tanaka’s success this season has shown that some good players could be plucked from Europe for a bargain fee if the recruitment people do their jobs properly.
Nice forward Evann Guessand has emerged as a target for Leeds following his exploits this season in France. He is a versatile attacker who can play across the frontline and has scored ten times and registered eight assists across all competitions.
At 23, he is also at the right age for Leeds and could further develop his game at Elland Road in the coming years. However, it would be a gamble and there is no telling whether Guessand would be able to adapt to English football.
Wilson Isidor – Leeds fans would love him
The Sunderland striker caught the eye of Leeds fans on Monday night when they bullied Ethan Ampadu on his way to giving the away side the lead.
Leeds went on to win the game but Isidor has remained in the thoughts of the Whites fans and, more importantly, their recruitment team ahead of the summer.
The Whites have shortlisted the forward ahead of the summer and while he is unproven in the Premier League, he has the physicality to deal with the intensity of the top flight.
If Leeds are to take a gamble on an unproven forward, the Frenchman would be a good bet after his exploits on Monday night.
