“The best atmosphere” – Summerville discusses Elland Road and feeling “love” from the fans

Leeds United forward Crysencio Summerville believes the atmosphere at Elland Road to be the best in England, and that there is a strong sense of “love” felt between the Dutch youngster and the club’s fanbase.

Summerville’s comments come ahead of Leeds’ trip to the Emirates to face Premier League leaders Arsenal on Saturday – a match in which he looks set to start given the recent injury picked up by fellow forward, and best friend, Wilfried Gnonto.

The 21-year-old has certainly earned his place, however. His pacey and skilful play – coupled with a willingness to take on defenders – has been constantly impressive.

The Dutch star currently has 4 goals and 2 assists in the league this season, and also netted for Netherlands Under-21’s side during the international break.

Summerville managed to get an assist in his last Premier League outing during Leeds’ 2-4 win over Wolves – playing a ball through to striker Rodrigo who secured victory for the Whites through a deft chip. He will be hoping to provide in a similar fashion – if not get on the score sheet himself – at the Emirates.

In an interview with Dutch outlet de Volkskrant, Summerville was keen to praise the Elland Road atmosphere, as well as stress the reciprocal feelings of “love” between the Leeds faithful and himself.

“Leeds has the best atmosphere in England, is a really big club. The fans love me, I love the fans. The stadium is always full,” he said.

Whilst the Dutchman will be without the vociferous Elland Road crowd at the weekend, he will still be focused on causing an upset in what is undoubtedly a stern test for his side.
