Leeds were thrilled to finally confirm the signing of Dan James last week, but they probably weren’t expecting him to be better than 4x Champions League winner Gareth Bale.
Speaking on Sky Sports News, former Wales player Hal Robson-Kanu has suggested that Dan James is better than Gareth Bale at beating a defender one on one. “in one-v-one position, he’s undoubtedly the best Wales have, at this moment in time. He’s electric.”
There’s no denying that James is lightning quick, but could this be a step too far? It’s clear to see that Bale is no longer who he once was, but he’s still a top-quality player. Although, with Bale now being 32 years old it is fair to say he may have lost that initial burst of pace that James now has in abundance.
So whilst it may seem like an outlandish claim upon first glance, you can see where Robson-Kanu is coming from when talking about the ability to beat a defender specifically.
