FC Koln sporting director Christian Keller has brushed aside the speculation over Dejan Ljubicic and Leeds United in the last transfer window and insisted that the player is enjoying being at the club.
The 26-year-old defensive midfielder was a big target for Leeds in the recently concluded summer transfer window but the club failed to snare him away from Koln.
Despite Leeds making a concrete move to land him, the German club remained adamant about not wanting to lose the player and eventually kept hold of him beyond the end of the window.
The Austrian has continued to perform on the pitch despite the speculation over his future in the summer and registered an assist in Koln’s win over Schalke over the weekend.
Koln’s sporting director is keen to move on from the summer and the rumours around the future of Dejan Ljubicic.
Leeds pushed hard to sign the player but Koln managed to dig their heels in and keep Ljubicic at the club despite the interest from England.
Keller is insistent that a lot was made out of the situation in the media and he actually didn’t have to do much to convince the Ljubicic to continue at the club in the summer.
He stressed that the most important part is that the midfielder stayed at the club and is still enjoying life at Koln despite all the rumours and speculation.
“I didn’t have to do much convincing”, Keller told Geiss Blog
“A lot is always written during the transfer window but the fact Dejo has not moved.
“The fact is – Dejo likes being here.
“The fact is – he is playing well.”
