Leeds United have had a great start to their season, but Daniel Farke still has issues to fix in the team.
Leeds United are firmly in the promotion race this season after losing the Championship playoff final last year. The Whites are in third place and are just two points off the league leaders. Leeds have one of the best attacks in the league and also boast one of the best defensive records in the Championship.
After losing key players during the summer transfer window, Daniel Farke has done an amazing job to keep the team consistent. However, there are some issues in the team he has to fix. Fortunately for him, the January transfer window is just around the corner.

This summer, Leeds United sold Archie Gray, Glen Kamara and Georginio Rutter; three players who were key to the creativity of the team in the middle of the park. The club did the best to replace them, signing Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell.
Within the first two months of the season, Leeds United lost Ethan Ampadu, and later Illia Gruev. These two were the first choice midfield partnership heading into the season but both of them are now out.
Despite Leeds being a great team in the league, the midfield still has issues. Ao Tanaka has been great and earned a call up to the Japan team this international break. Rothwell has also been a solid contributor. But Leeds lack creativity.
It is the reason why Daniel Farke looks like he does not have a “plan B”. Tanaka, Rothwell and Aaronson have created just four big chances combined in the Championship this season according to SofaScore. This is also why Joel Piroe has struggled in front of goal this season, without the creativity from Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter last year, he looks a completely different player.
Who could the club sign in January?
The obvious choice would be Archie Gray. But the reports claim that Spurs would prefer not to loan him to a Championship team. Gray has not had a lot of playing time in the Premier League, and a move to his former club could do wonders for him.
Leeds have also been linked with Bournemouth midfielder David Brooks. The 27-year old has mainly been on the bench in the Premier League this season. Brooks was a revelation on loan at Southampton last season; he had two goals and five assists in just 11 starts in the Championship. His creativity helped the saints reach the Premier League.
