Leeds United only earned a point from a game that they should have won, which frustrated Daniel Farke. However, a late Bournemouth equaliser in injury time on Saturday allowed the Cherries to escape Elland Road with a point in their bags.
The Whites dominated the proceedings and seemed to be on their way to a second successive league win until Bournemouth took advantage of a late set-piece to make it 2-2 at Elland Road.
Farke must be kicking himself for not winning all three points, but he will take heart from the fact that his side dominated an established Premier League side, which is a good sign of them surviving this season.
However, the Leeds manager was not happy with some of the decisions referee Michael Oliver made during the game and a particular one in the first half did prove to be costly for the home side.
Mark Clattenburg slams Daniel Farke for the complaints
Antoine Semenyo scored from a free-kick in the first half to give Bournemouth the lead. However, Farke doesn’t believe that Anton Stach’s challenge on Ryan Christie was a foul.
He believes that it was a soft free kick, but former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg insisted that Stach clearly pushed Christie off the ball, and it was a clear foul.
Clattenburg stressed that Oliver was in a really good position and made the right decision to give a free kick to Bournemouth.
“Daniel Farke said Michael Oliver’s decision to award Bournemouth a free-kick from which Antoine Semenyo scored was ‘much too soft’. It’s a foul”, he told LeedsUnited.News.
“Anton Stach clearly pushed Ryan Christie without winning the ball, and there was enough contact for Christie to fall over.
“So, the referee Michael Oliver, who was in a very good position, was right to award it.”
