Leeds United are currently in fifth place in the Premier League after a very impressive start to the season. But this campaign has already proved that the team has outgrown the need for a few players.

Daniel Farke already spoke about it towards the end of last season.

Any team that gets promoted to the Premier League needs to keep improving upon their first team if they want to extend their stay. The 49ers have done just that in the last transfer window.

Leeds can now boast of players like James Trafford, Anton Stach and Tarik Muharemovic.

And as the club continue on their ambition to make themselves a constant in the top flight, some players will have to go.

Just like when Joel Piroe was out of place in the Premier League last season, the level of quality needed will drastically increase with each campaign. There are already a few players in the first team who need to prove themselves going forward.

Some are already very low in the pecking order, while other a fighting for a chance to continue under Daniel Farke.

There were a lot of eyebrows raised when the club decided to give the midfielder a new deal.

Aaronson signing means he will be a key part of the team for the near future. Daniel Farke seems to appreciate his work rate but the player has very limited ability to be impactful in the team.

He has been at Leeds for years and has not nailed down a starting spot. The club would have the same results if he did not play.

But as he is here, he has the chance to prove himself and the fanbase wrong by delivering when called upon.

Nmecha was a good signing by the 49ers last year, coming in as a free agent.

He did chip in with goals as the season went on, and is a decent players overall. However, he clearly lacks the quality to be an impact player in this league; and it is part of the reason why Daniel Farke does not trust him to start games.

Even now, the club are hesitant on giving him a new contract until he proves his quality.

Nmecha has a couple of months to make an impact at Elland Road, or leave on a free transfer next summer.

Dan James

Seeing what Dan James has become is a sad sight for the Leeds fanbase.

The winger played a crucial role in promotion and was one of the club’s most productive players.

But since Leeds returned to the top flight, the Welsh international has shown very little to justify a place in the team. Last year he had zero goal contributions in all competitions.

He has to prove his quality if he wants to continue at Elland Road.
