‘They are not going to become prime Ronaldo’ – Daniel Farke snaps back after Leeds United training concern

Leeds United face Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend in what is already shaping up to be a crucial game. Both sides need a result at this point of the season.

Daniel Farke’s men need a win as the pressure mounts from outside the club, and Wolves are searching for their first points this season. Leeds will be gutted to hae left London last weekend without a point. They were very much in the game in the second half, and only conceded from an own goal.

The Whites will be hoping that luck shines on them this Saturday.

QUIZ: Can you name the team Leeds United sold these players to?

The Whites have scored just one goal in the league this season, and seem to be struggling to find the net in this campaign. In Thursday’s press conference, Farke was asked if he worked with the attackers in training. This is what the Leeds boss had to say:

“It’s not like if you’re struggling a bit in terms of scoring goals, you address it, train it for one or two days and all my offensive players turn into prime Ronaldo!” he said with a smile.

“It’s step by step to get the confidence back, it’s bringing them more into positions in front of the goals.

“We’ve had many small-sided games this week when they are naturally many goalscoring opportunities and if you then score goals you get some confidence and the instinct comes back but the main thing is to do this in the games.

“I’ve been happy with our performances in training but right now it’s about converting this into games. The week’s been good so far.

“We have one more important training session to work on shooting and our processes and hopefully whoever will start on Saturday will convert this into a good performance and end products.”

Who can fix this poor run of form?

Farke put it bluntly that Leeds lack some quality in attack last week. So the best he can do in upcoming games is to find a combination of players that works. He tried that by playing Aaronson, Okafor and Calvert-Lewin against Fulham, but it did not work out. A different set of players could do the job against Wolves at the Molineux.
