They will romp the league if – Pundit discusses missing peace in Leeds United team

Daniel Farke on the sidelines during a Leeds United match, focused and determined.

Frank McAvennie believes Leeds United are one 20-goal striker away from absolutely dominating the Championship this season but conceded that it is harder said than done to get a consistent forward.

Leeds did manage to strengthen the squad in the summer despite losing players such as Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Archie Gray in the last transfer window.

Manor Solomon showed promise in his debut against Hull City and Leeds fans had glimpses of Ao Tanaka and Largie Ramazani‘s talent in that game ahead of the international break.

Daniel Farke has decided to place his trust in Mateo Joseph as the team’s number 9 and the pressure is on the Spaniard as Leeds failed to sign a new striker in the summer.

However, McAvennie believes Leeds would have been a different story this season if they had a reliable striker in their squad.

Leeds United would have romped it if they had a 20-goal striker

The former Scotland striker admitted that he has been hearing about Leeds’ quality of football and how everything is knitting together this season.

However, he believes if Leeds could get a forward of some pedigree they would have absolutely wiped the floor with everyone in the Championship this season.

He is hopeful that the midfielders will chip in with goals until January when they will have a chance to bring in a forward but conceded that finding a striker of the required quality is not likely to be easy.

“If Leeds get a striker that can get 20 goals they’ll romp it”, the Scot told Football Insider.

“From what I’m hearing at Leeds, everyone is raving about the way they’re playing, they’re playing great football, great to watch, free scoring but they should be scoring a lot more.

“They need midfield players to chip in with goals until they get a number nine but everyone wants a striker.

“People think it’s easy to go and get a striker but it’s not, someone scoring goals at one club might not be able to do it at another club.”

Joseph is seen as a talented prospect but his strike against Hull City was only his second senior goal in Leeds colours.
