Leeds United managed a draw when they went away from home to Everton on Monday night. Fans will say the Whites should have won, but on the bright side, the team has lost just one game in their last 10 games in all competitions.
December saw a huge turnaround in form for the Whites; Daniel Farke’s system switch has seen the team playing some of their best football this season. Some first team players have hugely benefited from their new roles in the team.
Leeds have picked up 26 points at this stage of the season, and are six points above the relegation zone.
Simon Jordan gives Leeds United relegation verdict
After the game at the Hill Dickinson stadium last night, Simon Jordan had some criticism about Leeds United. According to him, the Whites draw too many games and that could make it difficult for them to survive relegation:
“I think Leeds have the ability to sail away from this relegation battle or this dogfight, being sucked into a vortex of challenging themselves to stay in the division.” he said on talkSport.
“I think they’re much more together, there’s a change in the way that they’ve played, they’ve set up differently, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has come to the party and started to score goals which we know he’s capable of but he’s now scoring goals more regularly and providing threat as much as he is scoring goals and the team, I watched them, I mean Palace were poor over Christmas but Leeds destroyed Palace.
“Going to Elland Road, it looks like it’s the fortress and the environment of passion and determination, and it has been for many, many years, but now it’s becoming a team that’s matching the expectations of its fans.
“I expected Leeds to stay in the Premier League; I didn’t expect Leeds to struggle, and I thought all this background noise around Farke was unfair, I felt.
“He’s got the team together, they’re not winning enough games, they’re drawing too many games, but they are competitive against whoever they play.
“Whichever team they’re up against, they make them have to beat Leeds, and teams are finding it very difficult to do so, and you’ve got to give a lot of credit to Daniel Farke for that.”
Leeds must start turning draws into wins
Simon Jordan has a point when it comes to Leeds United drawing too many games. But at this point of the season, not losing is as important as picking up three points. This current streak that Leeds have has seen them move out of the relegation zone into 16th place so far. And most of the time, what costs them these games is their inability to convert chances, so hopefully the signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen could change that soon.
