2020-21 has been an impressive season for Leeds United. They look at home in the Premier League once more, relegation seems unlikely and with the recent investment into the club United could be expected to climb the table in the years to come.
But to do that Leeds will have to recruit well. Exciting but affordable players need to be drafted into Marcelo Bielsa’s squad but they must fit his style of play.
So, let’s consider three midfielders should Leeds sign this summer.
Tiago Dantas
The Bayern Munich midfielder is a centre-mid with massive potential not being realised in his spell in Germany. The quality in Munich’s squad means chances are limited for the youngster. A move to Elland Road would be ideal. He’d be able to play under a superb and attacking manager with the promise of pushing for European football in the years to come. The passing and energetic style Bayern have played in recent years is somewhat similar to the style Leeds play. Meanwhile, it’s an option to play for a big club whilst being guaranteed play time. The heir to Thiago Alcantara could be a huge signing for Leeds this summer.
Sander Berge
Aston Villa are very much interested in the Sheffield United midfielder with the Blades set for the drop this season. The handy midfielder is a willing runner and offers a wide-range of skills in the centre of the park that Leeds could find very useful going forward adding depth and variety to their midfield options. If Villa can make this move happen then so can Leeds and it’s a move United should be looking to exploit to add proven Premier League quality to their squad and increase the fight for midfield spots.
Edouard Camavinga
Despite his status as one of the most exciting prospects on the planet, Leeds United are one of the clubs tipped to try and make a move for the 18-year-old midfield. His already proven quality would more than add to what Leeds bring from the middle of the park and his potential would mean Leeds would likely have one of the future’s finest players on their hands. Yes, they’ll have to fend of the pursuits of European giants such as Real Madrid and PSG but the promise of game time and exciting football could sway the youngster.
