Three players Leeds United could sign in January

Leeds United could be adding some new faces to the squad as they push for Premier League promotion.

Ahead of the January transfer window, Leeds have some areas in the team that need fixing. Daniel Farke was looking to sign a creative midfielder before the season began. The club missed out on signing Gus Hamer and Fabio Carvalho. This season, Daniel Farke has gotten the best out of Brenden Aaronson but the team still needs that creative spark.

Daniel Farke will also be looking for depth deeper in midfield, as Ethan Ampadu and Illia Gruev are out with serious knee injuries till the end of the year. Leeds will reportedly be looking to add one more player to the attack. And with Junior Firpo’s contract set to expire in 2025, a left back will be priority in the window.

Let’s look at a few players the club could sign when the window opens in the next few weeks.

QUIZ: Can you name these 10 Leeds United players from the 2000s?

With Junior Firpo set to leave the club next summer, Leeds should be looking to the future. The Sunderland left back is a perfect replacement for Firpo; he has similar attacking prowess with more potential due to his age. And defensively, the 22-year old can more than hold his own. Dennis Cirkin would be a fresh breath of air, as Firpo has been a defensive liability for most of his time at the club. Leeds would have to pay a premium, as a fee of £15million.

James McAtee

Manchester City midfielder James McAtee should also be a serious target. He can plays as a number 10 and even deeper in midfield. With the current state of affairs at the Premier League club, he would be available to sign in January. McAtee showed how good he could be when he was on loan at Sheffield United in the Championship.

Ryan Kent

Even with Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto at their best this season, it seems like Leeds still need that spark in attack. Ryan Kent could offer exactly that. Some stubborn defences have found it easy to shut out Leeds this season, Kent has the ability to unlock defences with his dribbling and ability to cross from wide areas. The former Rangers man can also pitch in with some goals when needed.
