Daniel Farke could be set to do some restructuring of the Leeds United squad as he prepares to bring in new signings in January.
Leeds are joint top of the Championship after 17 games. Before this season, not many people gave the club a chance of winning promotion. After losing the championship playoff final, some key players at the club left Elland Road. Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter left to join Premier League clubs.
Some other players left the club on a free transfer including Ian Poveda and Cody Drameh. Rasmus Kristensen left the club to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan.
With how well Leeds have played this season, some players have been on the fringes of the first team. They could be available to move in January. Let’s look at some Leeds United players who could leave the club in the upcoming transfer window.
QUIZ: Can you name the missing player from these 10 famous Leeds United photos?
Patrick Bamford
The veteran striker has been out of favour this season. Last year, Bamford popped up with some important goals and was a very good rotation piece. This year Patrick Bamford has rarely been fit, and has been coming off the bench for small cameos. His injury and fitness problems are not particularly a good thing for the club, who could use a more quality player in his place. If Leeds do make a move for a new striker, Bamford could be on his way out of Elland Road.
Joe Gelhardt
Another forward on the fringes of the first team. Joe Gelhardt has recovered from his hip injury, but has not been a part of recent Leeds squad because of Daniel Farke’s decision. The 22-year old is at a point in his career where he needs consistent first team football. When he was on loan at Sunderland, he performed quite well. Gelhardt is reportedly attracting a lot of interest from clubs in Europe.
James Debayo
James Debayo only made his first team debut recently. It seems like Daniel Farke rates the defender very highly. But with the return of Max Wober, Debayo could be sent back down to the U21s. The teenager looks ready for first team football, and a loan move in January would make a lot of sense for all parties.
