It’s set to be another week of transfer rumours at Elland Road with fans focused on new arrivals ahead of Saturday’s opening game of the season against Manchester United. For some members of the Leeds squad though, this could be their last few days at the club with a number of current fringe players on the verge of departing the Whites. So here are three players who could be departing Marcelo Bielsa’s team this week…
Robbie Gotts
Once upon a time Gotts showed much promise soaring through the ranks at Elland Road, but things have slowed down recently for the midfielder. He did a decent job on loan at Salford last season and the Ammies are interested in bringing Gotts back over the Pennines. Another loan move could prove beneficial but it certainly seems he won’t play a part in Leeds’ campaign if pre-season is anything to go by. A permanent exit could also be on the cards with Motherwell interested in bringing the energetic player north, but as of today (10/08/21) nothing has been agreed.
Jordan Stevens
The 21-year-old is contracted at Leeds until the end of the season but has found first-team football hard to come by, joining Bradford City on loan last term. The club also has a number of high profile wingers and are in the market for a back-up, meaning Stevens is unlikely to be given many first-team chances going forward. Thus, in search of regular football, he may make another loan move or could even leave the club permanently in the coming days.
Niall Huggins
This is perhaps the most likely of the three players mentioned to exit Elland Road this week with a number of sources claiming the club are happy to let the Welshman leave. Blackburn are one of the sides declaring an interest, a club Leeds have a good relationship with having loaned Barry Douglas there last season along with playing a recent pre-season match at Ewood Park. Leeds fans are split on the potential exit of Huggins who has impressed for the Under 23s, but it seems Bielsa has no plans for him and a transfer away appears inevitable.
