Following Crysencio Summerville’s move to West Ham United, rumors surrounding Gnonto have been running around suggesting a move away from The Isles. Wilfried Gnonto is one of Crysencio’s best buddies. The duo allegedly lived close by and also arrived to training together. After his friend’s departure, the Italian winger has been surrounded by rumors of a move away from Leeds United.
According to InterLive, three Serie A clubs are interested in bringing back the Italian home. Parma, Geneo and Venezia are all in the race for Gnonto’s services. Reports also claim that Wilfried desires a return back home to Italy.
Everton had also bid for the 20-year-old winger last summer but he stayed in West Yorkshire despite a long transfer saga. Gnonto can be an integral part of Daniel Farke’s team if he stays. As there have been many outgoing players this summer, the Italian has the chance to play a major part again at Leeds this season if he wishes to stay.
Wilfried had a slow start last season but he ended it with nine goals and three assists. By far, the Italian has scored 13 goals and secured three assists for the Leeds United first team. This is a courtesy to a total of 3,783 minutes played.
Will Gnonto leave Leeds United?
InterLive also mentions that Gnonto doesn’t want to play in The Championship following a failed promotion campaign. Leeds United barely missed on promotion last season falling short in the promotion play-off finals against Southampton. The Italian media outlet also claims that “the former product of the Inter Youth team is hungry for Serie A.”
Wilfried was born in Italy to Ivorian parents. His passion for football took him for a ride from Baveno, Suno and then finally at the age of nine, Gnonto settled at Inter Milan. The Italian is a product of Internazionale Academy but decided to move to Switzerland after rejecting a professional contract from La Beneamata.
Football took him to ZĆ¼rich where he spent two seasons as Leeds United roped him in the later half of 2022. Gnonto’s contract expires in 2027 which leaves huge space for negotiation. However, InterLive says that the contract length isn’t of concern as the player’s wishes make it worthless.
Transfermarkt values him at around Ā£13.5 million. The Italians’s contract also provides ample space for inflation. Although Gnonto can be an indispensable asset for The Whites, if the player doesn’t wish to stay there is no point holding him. If the Italian leaves, this might get Leeds a good Ā£50 million from the sale of Summerville and Gnonto.
