Leeds have come a long way in the last few years. Since Marcelo Bielsa took over, they’ve gone from being a mediocre Championship outfit to one of the most entertaining teams in the top flight.
Granted, their start to the 2020/21 campaign is not what they’d have wanted but they’re still a club on the up with plenty of exciting players throughout their squad.
One of the many brilliant players at Bielsa’s disposal is of course Raphinha. The talented right-winger has shown his class since joining the club last year with a number of splendid goals. He has now forced his way into the Brazilian national team and has been watched by a number of big clubs including former Premier League Champions Liverpool.
In a recent interview whilst on international duty with Raphinha, Liverpool star Fabinho admitted he expected Raphinha to join the Reds over the summer. He said: “Raphinha, since he arrived in the Premier League, has been performing and standing out very well at Leeds.
“In the summer transfer market, there was some talk that he could go to Liverpool, I even expected that to happen, but he stayed at Leeds.
“Today he is the best player in Leeds. Whenever a team is going to play against them, they know that Raphinha is the player who can cause the most danger.”
Interestingly, despite Fabinho’s comments, Raphinha was kept quiet by his fellow countryman and his teammates when the two sides met with Fabinho grabbing a rare goal in a 3-0 win for Liverpool at Elland Road.
