Top 5 free agents Leeds United could potentially sign on June 1- Brentford, Crystal Palace and Everton stars all available

Leeds United are focused on securing automatic promotion to the Premier League in the final eight games of the season. However, their recruitment team have already gone to work and are aware that a major overhaul will be on the cards if they get promoted. But Leeds have a limited budget and the club are likely to look at options of snapping up players on a free transfer.

The Whites players will reassemble next week ahead of facing Swansea City at Elland Road as they push towards ensuring that they are in the Premier League next season.

Leeds will have a big budget if they get promoted but it won’t be an endless pot and the club will have to do smart deals, which involve considering options to sign players on free transfers.

A number of very good players are set to be available on a free transfer in the summer as their contracts are running out at their respective clubs.

If Leeds are smart there are a few players they could pick up for nothing in the next window and here are five players they could look at in the summer.

Dominic Calvert Lewin – Leeds United need a striker

The 28-year-old forward is currently recovering from a hamstring injury and will be out of contract at Everton in the summer. There is no agreement between the two sides and the forward is expected to move on in the summer. A number of Premier League clubs are expected to try and sign him and he would be a good option for Leeds as well. The Whites need a forward and Calvert-Lewin’s experience could come in handy. However, his injury troubles in recent seasons should be a consideration and any potential contract offer needs to reflect that.

Josh Brownhill – Leeds will look for midfield reinforcements

Leeds are almost certain to bring in midfield reinforcements and have been heavily linked with a move for Kalvin Phillips. However, the Whites should also consider other options such as Burnley’s Brownhill. The midfielder is unlikely to sign a new deal if the Clarets do not get promoted. Leeds should be all over him if the 29-year-old Burnley captain becomes available for nothing in the summer.

Christian Norgaard – The Whites will need some Premier League experience

The Yorkshire giants are expected to look at players who have the experience of playing in the Premier League and Norgaard represents that. The 31-year-old midfielder has made 113 appearances for Brentford and is their club captain. However, the London club are yet to offer him a new contract. If he is available on a free transfer, Leeds could do worse than snapping him up. Norgaard would add Premier League nous and experience to the Whites squad.

Can you name these 10 former Leeds United players?

Kyle Walker-Peters – Jayden Bogle will need competition at Leeds United next season

Bogle has been the standout performer in the Championship this season but he was suspect in the Premier League previously. Leeds are unlikely to ditch him if they get promoted but the Whites would need someone to push him next season. Walker-Peters is almost certain to leave Southampton on a free transfer and a whole host of Premier League clubs would be looking at him. Leeds should have their eyes on him as his Premier League experience will come in handy in the top flight.

Tyrick Mitchell – Leeds will need a left-back regardless of Junior Firpo’s future

Leeds United are yet to decide whether to offer Firpo a new contract but they will still need a left-back regardless of what the Dominican does. The Whites are looking at left-back options, including Hugo Buena, but Mitchell will be a coup if they manage to sign him. He is the first-choice left-back at Crystal Palace but the club are yet to offer him a new contract. There would be a scramble for his signing if he becomes available on a free transfer and Leeds should be in line to sign him.
