Leeds United fans will not like to be reminded about the last few academy prodigies to wear the club’s jersey. Over the last few years, the club’s academy has produced some uniquely talented players.
But the track record of these talents is not something a big club would be proud of. Kalvin Phillips was Leeds’ very own homegrown hero. His path to the first team was unusual; moving from a back up player and transforming to become one of the best players in the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa. After his breakout season, he earned his England caps, but Manchester City swooped in to sign him.
Archie Gray also broke out last season, took the Championship by storm and was even named EFL Championship Young Player of the season. Spurs signed him last summer for a huge £40M fee.

Archie Gray’s brother Harry Gray made his first team debut on Monday, as Leeds smashed Stoke City 6-0. It was a touching moment for the Elland Road crowd, as the same fans saw his older brother make it through the ranks up to the first team.
Leeds could now experience deja vu. According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham already have an eye on the 16-year old. The report claims that Spurs have been following the youngster for sometime. Sources at the London club believe that when the time comes, Tottenham can sign Harry Gray due to the decent working relationship both teams have had in recent seasons. Leeds signed Joe Rodon from Spurs, and Manor Solomon is currently on loan at Elland Road.
Harry Gray needs to stay
For once, Leeds United need to stand their ground when it comes to their academy talent. After selling the last two for big fees, the club needs to attempt to tie him down long term. Harry Gray has enormous potential and could become the next star of the club, Leeds need to do everything possible to get him to stay for the long term future.
