Leeds United are preparing to take on Swansea City in a big Championship clash at Elland Road on Saturday. However, their recruitment people have already gone to work and are identifying targets who could be brought in the next summer transfer window. The Whites also have a chance to rekindle their interest in an old target who is loved by manager Daniel Farke.
Daniel Farke and his Leeds United players are focused on ensuring the Whites earn automatic promotion in the remaining eight Championship games of the season.
However, their recruitment team are already working on targets and several decisions have already been made on current players and the personnel they want to sign in the summer transfer window.
Farke will also have a say on who Leeds would end up signing, and he could ask the club to rekindle their interest in a player he has been keen on signing in the last two transfer windows.
A key transfer decision has been made that could favour Leeds United
Emiliano Buendia has been on Leeds’ radar since last summer, but the winger joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan from Aston Villa in the winter transfer window.
However, the attacking midfielder has struggled in Germany, and his performances have not impressed anyone at Bayer Leverkusen.
The German club have an option to buy him for a fee in the region of £17m, but according to Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen are unlikely to sign him on a permanent deal.
He is now expected to return to Aston Villa in the summer, but even the Midlands club do not want him, and he is likely to be sold in the next transfer window.
Leeds would have a decent chance of landing the Argentinian if they get promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Daniel Farke loves him and has been keen to sign him for Leeds
The Leeds manager coached Buendia at Norwich City and has remained an admirer of the attacking midfielder, which explains his attempts to sign him.
The Whites have had their eyes on him since last summer, but Buendia was unwilling to drop down to the Championship, and Leverkusen offered him a chance to move to Germany in January.
Can you name the missing sponsor on these 10 Leeds United shirts?
However, he is now expected to return to England, and it would be no surprise if Farke again tries to sign him in the summer, provided Leeds are in the Premier League.
Leeds are likely to be in the market for an attacking midfielder, and the availability of Buendia next summer would be a huge temptation for the club and Farke.

Not if we don’t go up we ain’t. And to be honest I would not want him at Leeds even if we do. Rejected us twice. He ain’t Leeds
