Leeds United manager Daniel Farke wanted to bring in one more striker towards the end of the last transfer window. However, the club’s plans unravelled towards the end, and they failed to add any more attacking threats towards the final leg of the summer.
Farke is insistent that he is not going to crib about what didn’t happen over the summer transfer window, and has challenged his players to prove that they are better than what they are being given credit for.
However, the Leeds manager is acutely aware that he is short of options in the final third and that he cannot trust players such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Lukas Nmecha and Noah Okafor’s fitness, given their injury history in recent years.
Leeds could revive their interest in Fulham winger Harry Wilson, who is almost certain to leave in January if he doesn’t sign a new contract, and will push the club to bring in one more striker.

Leeds United are still working on a new striker transfer

Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke has provided his thoughts and information on the club’s striker situation at the end of the summer transfer window.
He believes Calvert-Lewin is going to be a real asset for Leeds in the Premier League if he can stay fit, but stressed the Whites still need an extra goal scorer in Janaury if they are to survive.
O’Rourke added that, according to his sources, Leeds are still working to bring in a more proven number 9 in the winter transfer window.
“Obviously, they were in the market for an attacking player right up until deadline day – Leeds have yet to score a goal in open play in the Premier League in three games”, O’Rourke said on Football Insider.
“[Lukas] Nmecha has been leading the line in the first few games of the season, while [Dominic] Calvert-Lewin came on and did quite well against Newcastle.
“If he can stay fit, he could prove to be a real asset for Leeds United, so there are options there for Daniel Farke’s team.
“It’s obvious they will need a regular goalscorer if they are to have any chance of staying up.”
Farke will demand a striker in January
The Leeds manager will depend on the team’s defensive and midfield solidity to keep their heads above water in the next few months and score a few ugly points.
However, come the winter transfer window, Farke is almost certain to demand the two forwards that he was denied in the summer.
A striker is expected to be on top of his agenda, and the Leeds recruitment team will have to come up with a solution over the next couple of months.
Leeds have been tipped to sign the Championship’s top scorer, Josh Sargent, in the winter window.
Would rather we didn’t sign anyone if he is the target. Piroe tore up the Championship and out scored the yank in the process, if he can’t cut it in the Premier league how can Sargent? He may have more physicality but he’s also American and crap. Would be a total waste of money signing stinking of a lack of ambition and if made, no doubt done with one eye on returning to the Championship. No more dross at Leeds! MOT
