Leeds United’s move for Burnley forward Manuel Benson may be accelerated with reports of incoming transfers at Turf Moor this afternoon. According to Sacha Tavolieri, the Clarets are expecting three new faces at the club from today.
Hannibal Mejbri, Jeremy Sarmiento and Jaiden Anthony are all set to join Burnley this week. Tavolieri tweeted this on X:
“Big incomings for the Clarets today! Hannibal Mejbri, Jeremy Sarmiento and Jaiden Anthony are all at Turf today for medical tests in order to complete their move to the #SkyChampionship club.”
Manuel Benson set for Leeds move
Earlier today, HITC reported that Leeds United had switched their intentions to sign Burnley winger Manuel Benson. This news came after moves for Feyenoord winger Calvin Stengs and Ajax winger Carlos Forbes stalled. Leeds United are not the only clubs interested in Benson, Sunderland and Norwich City have registered interest in the winger.
Benson has been benched for Burnley’s first two games of the championship season. The winger only made eight appearances in the Premier League last season under former manager Vincent Kompany.
Who have Burnley signed?
Hannibal Mejbri, Jeremy Sarmiento and Jaiden Anthony are all set for medicals at Turf Moor today. The club are adding two wide players in Anthony and Sarmiento, which pushes Manuel Benson further down the pecking order.
Burnley manager Scott Parker mentioned in a press conference this weekend that the club will be expecting a host of additions this week:
“People are working tirelessly,” he said. “I think we have a rough understanding of who probably isn’t going to be here or who doesn’t want to be.
“We have a good recruitment team here and willing owners who are trying their hardest to make sure we do the right business for the best sake of the club – we are in good hands.”
Daniel Farke calls for new additions
Leeds United boss Daniel Farke also mentioned that he would like to add players to a squad that has lost key players. Leeds have lost Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville in recent weeks, with Farke keen to replace them with depth:
“I don’t want to speak too much about the players not involved with us today and who will come in the next days, obviously from tomorrow he [Ramazani] will train with us,” said Farke.
“I want to spotlight a bit more the players who were involved and perhaps in the next weeks are not that much in the spotlight, like young players like Sam Chambers, or Alex Cairns.
“Obviously it’s good we have Largie signed and [I] have made it clear we definitely need a few more if we want to be ambitious. Just with a squad of 12, 13 senior players, for this emotional and ambitious club to be successful it’s not possible.”
