Newly promoted clubs have found it difficult in the Premier League over the past few seasons. This season marks the second consecutive year in a row that all three new clubs have gone back down to the Championship.

There have been many discussions as to why this is becoming more prevalent, with some split between the style of football, while others believe it is player recruitment.

Troy Deeney has said that the new clubs this season, including Leeds, should not try to outplay team in the Premier League:

“The one thing that I want to see from all the teams that go up: don’t go up and now try and out-football the Premier League teams. You cannot do it,” he said on CBS Sports Golazo during the Championship playoff final.

“Go there, beat them up, be aggressive, be physical, take your chances when you get the opportunity, and, the most important part, enjoy the process.”

Daniel Farke has to mix and match next season

There were games this season where Leeds played into the hands of the opponents. The Premier League is more ruthless, so Daniel Farke must know when to play attacking football, and when to switch it up and be pragmatic.

Just like Lee Sharpe recently mentioned, the key to this will be the recruitment in the summer. Buying clinical attackers will be key to wherever Leeds finish in the top flight.
