Leeds Rhinos players Ash Handley and Liam Sutcliffe have both been named in the Betfred Super League Team of the Week from Magic Weekend.

Handley, who captained the side, led the team out with Macy and Maya Burrow, the daughters of Leeds Rhinos legend, Rob.

The winger was in electric form, coming into the game on the back of a five-try performance against Hull FC last week.

Handley scored the final try of the first half in the Rhinos’ 34-20 win, which moved him up to third in the try-scoring charts, tied with Wigan’s Jai Field.

He also stopped a certain try, chasing down Castleford’s Greg Eden, recording a speed of 36 KMPH in the process.

Handley has announced himself this season as one of Leeds’ most valuable players, both from scoring tries and making metres out of his own half.

Centre, Liam Sutcliffe, was also in fine form on Saturday, and had what is undoubtedly his best game so far this season for Leeds.

The versatile 27-year-old was involved in three try contributions, scoring once and setting up two more. He also ran for 128m, second to Cameron Smith who ran for 140m.

Sutcliffe seems to have found his position at centre, having been moved positions all of his career. He has scored 18 tries in 54 games as a centre, averaging a try every three games.

Cameron Smith, anyone?

Handley and Sutcliffe deserve to be there, but where is Cameron Smith?

Smith was Sky Sports Man of the Match yet is not included in the Team of the Week – very bemusing!

There were also shouts for Corey Johnson and Aidan Sezer too, with Johnson covering the most ground of any player at Magic Weekend.

Still, it’s a positive that we had so many players in contention after an impressive win. Long may that continue.
