Leeds were once again left unsatisfied on Saturday afternoon as they were once again denied victory by West Ham following a late Michail Antonio goal.
But one player who certainly didn’t deserve to lose was Leeds goalkeeper Ilian Meslier. The Frenchman made a lot of brilliant saves during the game, including a very smart save to deny Antonio, which pleased Paul Merson. “Benrahma gets the ball, does a little one-two with Soucek, he gets it back and he plays it out, falls to Antonio on the right-hand side, he just takes a touch, and he smashes it across the goal.”
The former Arsenal player admitted that he thought it was going to be a goal. “I shouted, ‘Goal!’. I thought it was going to be a goal. It’s an unbelievable save by the goalkeeper, he gets a hand to it.”
Meslier was fantastic throughout the game, and most certainly didn’t deserve to lose.
