Leeds United have nothing to play for other than a need to finish the season on a high when they travel to the London Stadium to take on West Ham today.

The Whites secured Premier League survival with games to spare, but could play a big role in deciding the final team to go down on the final day of the season.

The Hammers need to beat Leeds today, and hope Everton do them a favour by beating Tottenham at the other end of the capital on the final day of the season.

Alan Shearer has looked at the scenarios for the final day of the season and has given his definitive prediction for what could happen at the London Stadium later today.

The former striker drops his West Ham vs Leeds prediction

Alan Shearer admitted he was stunned by how poor West Ham United were in their defeat to Newcastle United last weekend, especially given how badly they needed a result.

He insisted that West Ham will need to beat Leeds to put pressure on Tottenham on the final day, and he expects the Hammers to win at home today.

However, the former England captain doesn’t believe it will be enough to save them, as he feels Spurs will get something at home against Everton.

Shearer said on The Metro: “I saw West Ham last week. I was at the game at Newcastle on Sunday. Oh my goodness, they were so bad defensively.

“They came in with a new system, tried to play five at the back and changed after 25 minutes or so because they were 2-0 down. But they were really, really poor.

“They’ve got to try and get that win and try and put as much pressure on Tottenham Hotspur as possible, because you can imagine the picture where we’re flicking to Tottenham’s ground and we’re flicking to West Ham at different points on Sunday afternoon.

“I’m going to go for a West Ham win, but unfortunately, I don’t think it will be enough to keep them up, as I can see Spurs and Everton playing out a draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.”

The Whites won’t ease up today

Jamie O’Hara has already questioned whether West Ham United should really be considered favourites at home to Leeds, especially with the form the visitors have been in recently.

West Ham may have lost their last three games, but they still head into the final day of the season with a chance of surviving in the Premier League.

Leeds, meanwhile, have shown no signs of slowing down since securing safety and are unlikely to take it easy this weekend either.

Even so, West Ham know everything is on the line and will be hoping the occasion brings the best out of them in front of their home fans.

If Everton were to go ahead against Tottenham Hotspur, the atmosphere inside the London Stadium could quickly become intense, giving the Hammers a major boost.
