Following a loan spell at Union Berlin last season, Brenden Aaronson will spend the 2024-25 campaign with Leeds United. Moreover, the United States men’s national team player is among the club’s top standouts.

After Leeds was relegated from the Premier League in 2023, the American player didn’t take part in the club’s first season in the Championship, as they missed out on promotion after losing the Championship Play-off Final to Southampton.

During that time, Aaronson played 38 matches for Union Berlin, netting two goals and providing two assists. However, it was a brief stint for the U.S. native, as he returned to Leeds after the 2023-24 season.

After losing Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter this past summer, the Whites have needed other players to step up and Aaronson has answered the call.

In the 2-0 win over Cardiff City on Saturday, Aaronson provided the assist on the insurance goal Joël Piroe scored late in the second half to secure all three points. LUFC Data on X highlighted that Aaronson has played a part in three of Leeds’ last seven goals, contributing two goals and one assist.

Last week, the 23-year-old spoke to Sky Sports about his mindset for this season with Leeds as the player looks to redeem himself.

“I have the drive; I know what I want to do this season,” Aaronson told the English media outlet. “I knew I needed to come in and show my worth and show how good I can be. Coming in, I had to be confident and that is what I have tried to be. It is not easy but it has been made easier with the teammates and the coaching staff we have here.”

Furthermore, Aaronson wants to play a role in helping the Whites return to the top flight and avoid a third straight season in the Championship.

“We want to get back up to the Premier League because that’s where I think this club deserves to be but I know how tough the Championship is,” Aaronson added. “I’ve heard from friends that it’s not an easy league. The goal is to get points and win games so we have to work well as a team.”
