‘Very good, brilliant’ – Ian Wright has massive praise for Leeds United star in England game

Leeds United had 11 players in total called up for this international break. The team unfortunately took a loss before they went into the international window.

Daniel Farke’s side once again failed to convert their chances as they lost 2-1 to Tottenham. It was their first home defeat of the season, and it followed a recent trend of games. Since the game against Fulham last month, the Whites have been poor in front of goal, failing to kill off games. It cost them in London, and cost them three points against Bournemouth who took a point with a late equalizer.

Farke’s side sit in 15th place this season with eight points in seven games.

Joe Rodon, Karl Darlow and Ethan Ampadu were all in action for Wales’ 3-0 loss to England on Thursday night. The Three Lions killed the game off in the first half with goals from Ollie Watkins, Bukayo Saka and Morgan Rodgers.

There was a moment in the game where Karl Darlow pulled off an amazing stop to deny Anthony Gordon. During the half time analysis on ITV, Ian Wright praised the Leeds keeper for pulling out such a quality save to keep the scores down.

“This is a very good save, this is a brilliant save.”

Leeds United star set on being first choice this season

The Welsh international has been in fine form when called upon this season. Darlow has been in action for the past couple of games since Lucas Perri picked up an injury. The 35-year old has recently said he is ready to fight for his place in the team:

“Every player wants to be playing week in and week out and I’m no different,” he said.

“I’m really pleased to be in a bit of rhythm again.

“I played at the back end of last season in the Championship and felt I had a run of games where I’d done well.

“I’m old enough now to know how careers go and I make sure I’m consistent in my habits, available for every matchday I can be and in the best possible shape.”
