‘Very little chance’ of Leeds United signing Premier League target

Leeds United are looking to bring in a fullback ahead of the transfer deadline. The Whites have been linked with Bournemouth’s Max Aarons.

Leeds have reportedly agreed a fee with Fortuna Dusseldorf for midfielder Ao Tanaka. The Japanese international flew down to England today, with the deal set to be completed in the next few hours.

Journalist Graham Smyth reported that the club are looking to add two more players after they complete the deal for Tanaka:

“Ao Tanaka flying this morning for a medical. Leeds United hopeful of completing that one today. Also expecting movement on other business today in order to complete tomorrow. The hope is for three. Tanaka, full-back and another. No guarantees obviously.”

Bournemouth boss hints at Max Aarons departure

Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola recently revealed that Aarons is on the outside of the squad, and is fighting for a spot to earn minutes.

“He’s trying to get more minutes like the others.” he told the Daily Echo.

“I think you can be out of the squad and next day you start.

“Sometimes I try to prioritize, when selecting the 20 players, more the offensive players, because normally during the game, most of the times you feel the need of changing them because probably defenders finish better, survive better.

“I normally don’t go more than two, three defenders on the bench because I try to have more options for the strikers, for the wingers, for the number ten because it’s the position that I normally change.”

Max Aarons linked with foreign clubs

Leeds United are not the only team that have been linked with a move for Max Aarons. Two Serie A clubs have also been linked. Bournemouth are said to prefer a permanent move away from the club for Aarons, but loan moves are not ruled out.

Graeme Bailey told Leeds United News that the Cherries are looking for around £15million for the defender.

“Bournemouth are open to a deal for Max Aarons, but it won’t be cheap. There is very little chance Leeds get him. They will sell, they want good money. 20 games last year, so we are talking well over £15m.”

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke is working with Chairman Paraag Marathe around the clock to secure arrivals before the deadline.

The Whites lost key players in Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville to the Premier League. Max Aarons would be ideal depth at the fullback position to add to Sam Byram, Junior Firpo and Jayden Bogle.
