Victor Orta draws up new shortlist to address problem position

It’s been widely reported so far this summer that Leeds’ transfer targets included a left-back which they now have in the shape of Junior Firpo, a winger and a centre midfielder. However, recent events have prompted Victor Orta to add a new position to his summer to-do list.

Yesterday it was confirmed that Kiko Casilla after an ill-fated spell at Elland Road would be leaving to Spain on a year long loan in a move that could become permanent after a year.

Now you might think that’s a problem solved for Leeds. After all, Casilla produced his fair share of blunders in a Leeds shirt and many supporters wanted him out. However, the decision to let the Spaniard go has created a new issue.

There is now a significant hole in their team. Granted, Illan Meslier was already Leeds’ number one last term and proved to be one of the best young keepers in the league but now United are lacking a senior figure in their goalkeeping ranks and a reliable number two.

Thus, Victor Orta is now on a quest to bring in a trustworthy deputy to support Meslier’s development and provide sufficient back-up should the Whites need it.

According to Leeds Live, Orta has already begun his search for a new keeper and has drafted up a list of targets who could fill the void.
