Leeds United are looking more and more likely to secure Premier League survival after reaching the 43-point mark, putting them in a strong position to stay in the top flight for another season.

With safety now appearing close, the club have already begun preparing for the summer transfer window and are assessing several potential targets before the campaign comes to an end.

Unlike last summer, Leeds are not expected to make major changes across the squad, but they still want to improve a number of key areas ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The Whites are looking at several strikers as they want to add more goals to their team, and one of their top targets has done something outrageous today.

Leeds United striker target produced a moment of pure magic

Celtic beat Rangers 3-1 in the Old Firm derby at Parkhead earlier today, but it was what Daizen Maeda, a player who has been on Leeds’ radar for months, did that should interest the Whites fans.

With the game poised at 2-1 in favour of Celtic, the striker produced an astonishing scorpion kick inside the penalty box to send the ball looping into the Rangers’ net.

It was an outrageous piece of skill, which more or less decided the game and earned Celtic the three points they needed to keep themselves in the title race.

The 28-year-old striker has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season and will have a year left on his contract with Celtic in the summer

There is an expectation that a good World Cup for Japan could earn the forward a move away from Celtic in the upcoming transfer window.

Leeds are amongst the clubs tracking the striker, and the goal against Rangers in a heated Old Firm derby has only done more for his reputation amongst his suitors.

The Whites need one more difference-maker up front

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been an important figure in Leeds’ push towards Premier League survival, which now looks increasingly likely to be secured in the coming weeks.

However, his recent form has also highlighted that Leeds cannot depend on him to score consistently across an entire Premier League campaign.

With survival appearing close, the club are expected to look for another striker who can offer more in the final third, whether that’s alongside Calvert-Lewin or as his replacement in the starting XI next season.

Leeds know they need to keep moving forward. To take the next step, they require a more reliable and clinical goalscorer capable of delivering in the biggest moments.
