Former Leeds United defender Tony Dorigo has picked out Jayden Bogle for criticism for his role in the Whites conceding the winning goal against Burnley on Sunday.

Leeds suffered their first league defeat of the season on Sunday when Burnley beat them 1-0 via a Luca Koleosho goal early in the first half at Elland Road.

The defeat meant Leeds dropped to ninth in the Championship table after five games and are now under pressure to respond with a run of results in the upcoming weeks.

Bogle, who joined Leeds in the summer, has been picked out for criticism for the role he played in Koleosho’s goal at Elland Road.

Dorigo conceded that it was an excellent goal from the Burnley star but stressed that Bogle could have done better to defend the situation.

Former White feels the Leeds United star must have engaged with Koleosho earlier

He pointed out that the counter-attack was a result of a Leeds player slipping but stressed that the Burnley star still had a lot to do to score that goal.

Dorigo picked out Bogle and insisted that the Leeds defender waited far too long to try and engage with the Burnley attacker and it allowed him to get inside the penalty box.

He indicated that had the Leeds defender been proactive with his defensive action, he could have prevented Koleosho from having a shot at goal.

“It’s an excellent finish from Koleosho”, Dorigo said on LUTV (via the Yorkshire Evening Post).

“Yes, it is a slip. But the Burnley player had a long way to go before scoring.

“But Bogle waited and waited. I think he waited too long to come across and engage the ball.

“Struijk was just about getting back. There, he’s not even in sight. Eventually, he does get there, but it is a really good finish.”

Bogle is still likely to maintain his place in the team when Leeds travel to Wales to take on Cardiff City next weekend.
