Wayne Rooney has been reflecting on when he faced Leeds United in the Championship this season.
Plymouth lost 3-0 to Leeds United in earlier this month. It was one of the most dominant first half performances the Whites have had this season. A flurry of three goals in eight minutes all but sealed the game in the first half.
Brenden Aaronson, Joel Piroe and Dan James were all on the scoresheet in an impressive performance at Elland Road.
After the game, Rooney was unhappy with the result and aimed a jab at Leeds in the post match press conference:
“They’re a very good team and anything but promotion for Leeds this season would be a failure.”
This remark lead many journalists in the media to call out the 39-year old.

Plymouth boss Wayne Rooney says the defeat to Leeds United was one of the most difficult results he had to take this season:
“Of course, Leeds was a very difficult game for us but getting a win against Portsmouth and then a point away from home against a good team was really important for us to go into the international break with a little bit of momentum.
“Hopefully the poor games we had before that we can put behind us because I think before that we were really good. So we need to try to build some momentum and try to pick up more points.”
Plymouth sit in 18th place, just one point above the relegation zone. Wayne Rooney’s side have also won just one league game in their last six.
International break will be a huge boost for the club
Leeds will play their next game in 12 days against Swansea. A match that Burnley boss Scott Parker has warned, will be challenging. The clarets only managed to beat Swansea 1-0 due to a late penalty.
A much needed break is needed at Leeds United with all the injury issues at the club. Currently, Ethan Ampadu, Illia Gruev, and Largie Ramazani are all out.
With news that a lot of key players will return at least four days before the Swansea game, Daniel Farke will be pleased. Now Leeds fans will have to hope the players return from the break without getting injured.
