Wayne Rooney is one of the biggest names in English football, and the former England striker weighed in on Leeds United’s performance and how Daniel Farke should feel about his team following their 2-1 home defeat against Tottenham on Saturday.
Farke was absolutely gutted following the game at Elland Road on Saturday after his side failed to get anything against Spurs despite dominating proceedings against the north London team.
Tottenham boss Thomas Frank made a spirited effort to paint a very different picture where his team controlled the game. However, it was clear from how things panned out that Spurs didn’t deserve the three points they walked away with.
Leeds now have two weeks to lament the result on Saturday, but Premier League legend Rooney insisted that the Whites should not feel disheartened after the game.
Leeds were very unlucky – Wayne Rooney

The former England captain insisted that Leeds were hard done by against Spurs and did not deserve to lose at Elland Road against the north London club.
He stressed that Leeds paid for not being clinical enough in front of goal, but believes Daniel Farke must be happy with the way his team dominated a top Premier League side.
“I thought Leeds were quite unlucky today to come away with no points”, Rooney said on BBC Match of the Day.
“They created some really good chances, and they were not clinical enough. I think Daniel Farke will be happy with the performance.
“They played well and created chances.”
Leeds need points from their next two games
Farke and his players will look to put the Tottenham defeat behind them and return after the international break with renewed vigour to secure some positive results.
Leeds have eight points from seven league games, which is a solid start for any promoted team, but they must look to add to that tally in the next two fixtures.
The Whites are set to face Burnley after the break, followed by a game against West Ham. They are both likely to be in the relegation scrap, given how things have panned out at the start of the season.
Leeds must look to take points against both teams to ensure they maintain a comfortable lead over the others, who are likely to be fighting for survival this year.
