‘We definitely won’t…’ – Daniel Farke delivers crushing Leeds United transfer news

Leeds United

Leeds United are back in action this weekend as they take on league leaders Arsenal. Fans will be disappointed about how they are heading into the game, having dropped points against Everton.

Leeds could have easily left the Hill Dickinson stadium with a win, but their inability to convert chances cost them dearly. It has been a problem since the start of the season, with Daniel Farke even pointing that out multiple times.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been the club’s top scorer in the league, but even his efforts have not been enough to help win three points in games. This is why the 49ers chose to add quality to the frontline in this window. Facundo Buonanotte arrived on a loan deal for the rest of the season.

Daniel Farke gives Leeds United transfer verdict

Another deal the club was working on was signing Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. However, in the past few hours, Crystal Palace have emerged as favourites to sign the Norwegian striker. If nothing changes in the next few hours, Strand Larsen will be headed to London. Leeds are reportedly not willing to budge on their valuation of the striker, which has now handed the advantage to Palace.

In Thursday’s press conference ahead of the Arsenal game, Daniel Farke might have dropped a huge reveal on what could happen in the rest of the window:

“Even a new signing wouldn’t arrive any earlier (than players being out) so it doesn’t change our plans.

“But it’s important to give ourselves the best possible squad, to not fall asleep and to stay awake. We definitely won’t extend the size of the group, that’s definite.

“The January market is a bit more tricky but I don’t want to give too much away.

“If for example we wanted a no 8 and we said that then the price would go up. We are in a good and relaxed situation and we are also happy that we have Facundo with us.”

49ers blow a huge opportunity

Everything was set for Jorgen Strand Larsen to join the Whites; Leeds made the initial enquiry and had a bid rejected. But it seems like the 49ers do not value the striker’s quality enough to meet the asking price to sign him. The team need a consistent goalscorer who can take some of the burden off of Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s shoulders, but could now end the window with the same set of options they had before.

Larsen – Not coming fair enough, price too high, so what is plan B? We can manage cry the 49s we have 3 strikers – O yes, one injured and Piroe not fancied and he is someone they want to sell. Never mind only a few days left for the recruitment team to worry about not getting a Number 9. What about other positions ? cover for Left back ? No problem folks – the recruitment team have now left the building,
