Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has admitted that he will take a late decision on Max Wober’s availability ahead of facing Cardiff City on Saturday.
Wober is yet to play a league game this season and has only been an unused substitute in three Championship games at the start of the campaign.
The defender reported for Austria duty during the international break but suffered a knee issue, which kept him out of Leeds’ 1-0 defeat to Burnley at Elland Road last weekend.
The centre-back has been recovering over the last few days and there is some good news on his potential return to the Leeds squad in the coming days.
Daniel Farke wants to wait before deciding on Wober
The Leeds boss revealed that the centre-back returned to training today but stressed that it was only a light session so there is no guarantee that he will be fit for Saturday.
Farke stressed that the training load will be increased on Friday to test whether Wober’s body can handle the pressure.
The German admitted that he can only decide on the defender’s availability closer to the game so it will be a late call on the Austrian’s fitness.
“Max Wober back in training since today”, Farke said in a press conference.
“It was just a light session so we have to wait to see how his body reacts and how he can handle the load in the session tomorrow.
“So, it will be a late decision on him.”
Patrick Bamford is also expected to return to the Leeds squad this weekend after missing the last three games.
Wober returned to Leeds this summer following a loan spell in Germany last season and wants to help the Whites get promoted to the Premier League.
Leeds will hope to get back to winning ways against a struggling Cardiff City side away from home on Saturday.
