Leeds United are back in Premier League action this weekend when the Whites travel down south to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace.
Whilst this fixture will be at the forefront of supporters’ minds, United do also have an FA Cup quarter-final to contest in just under a month against fellow relegation rivals West Ham.
Beating West Ham would not only give Leeds a major psychological boost for the run-in for the remainder of the Premier League campaign, but it would also book Leeds a spot at Wembley for the FA Cup semi-final.
However, the Hammers look as though they will receive a major boost ahead of the clash that could swing the cup tie in their favour.
Crysencio Summerville ‘likely’ to return to face Leeds in the FA Cup
Summerville is currently in the midst of the best run of form he has enjoyed so far in a West Ham shirt, with this purple patch coming at exactly the wrong time for Leeds.
The Dutch winger has been in fine goalscoring form as of late, with seven goals in his last 11 matches in all competitions, but recently sustained an injury.
According to journalist Jacob Steinberg on X, Summerville’s minor calf injury will rule him out of some games; however, the 24-year-old is expected to be back after the international break to face his old side.
Summerville already broke Leeds supporters’ hearts once before when he left in the summer of 2024, but if he were to deny Leeds a chance to play at Wembley, then he could find himself becoming an unpopular figure in West Yorkshire.
Data suggests Crysencio Summerville has been lethal so far in the FA Cup
Leeds fans are more than aware of the talent that Summerville possesses, and whether it is James Justin or Jayden Bogle who is given the task of marking him, either defender will likely have their hands full when it comes to containing Summerville.
- Summerville has registered at least one goal contribution in every one of his three appearances in the FA Cup this season
- In total, the winger has two goals and two assists in three FA Cup appearances
- Leeds fans will take comfort from the fact that two of these appearances were against QPR and Burton Albion, however (Sofascore)
Going into the game, Daniel Farke will know that if he keeps his former player quiet, the chances of Leeds progressing to the semi-final increase dramatically, so hopefully for Leeds’ sake, the German comes up with a game plan that will guide the Whites to Wembley.
