What has been said about Harry Gray as Leeds United set to make decision on his future next season

This summer could end with a huge shakeup at Leeds United. The club’s attacking unit may see a drastic change from what ended last season, to who will be at the club next two weeks.

Manor Solomon, who played a big role in Leeds winning the Championship last season, returned to Spurs after his loan. The winger played such a crucial part, as he finished among the top scorers in the team. He could yet return ahead of this season, but nothing has been confirmed.

Lukas Nmecha has been added, the forward has shown signs of quality in pre-season so far. And it looks like Joel Piroe is fit and fighting to keep his place, he has netted in almost every game this summer.

Leeds could see two attackers from last season depart; Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph. Daniel Farke told Bamford he was not in his plans for next season, while Joseph asked for a transfer away from Elland Road.

One player who could stand to benefit from the shake up in attack is Harry Gray. Despite his age, he could be set to have a bigger impact in the team next season. One of Leeds’ and Englands’ highly rated attackers could make his mark just like his older brother did over a year ago. With Bamford, and maybe Mateo Joseph gone, he could find himself higher up the pecking order.

His teammate Joel Piroe had some sound advice to give to the young forward:

“I think he [Gray] still needs to improve a lot, but he’s showing he’s doing really well and I’m happy for him that he gets a chance as well to have a taste of what it feels like to be on the pitch, to be in and around the team. I just hope for him that he gets even more hungry from it as well, that he wants more and tries to keep developing.”

Leeds will have serious competition this season

The transfer window has seen many arrivals this summer, which means increased competition in some areas. Joel Piroe believes that more options only make the Leeds United team stronger. He also adds that he will fight to keep his place in the side this season.

“In the Premier League at big clubs, wherever you are, you always face competition. So if it’s a new signing or one from the academy who comes up, it will always be a better for the place and you just got to influence what you can yourself.

“For me it means playing well and keep scoring goals. That’s how I would try and want to earn or keep my spot.”

Should Harry Gray feature more in the Premier League?

There is that saying that ”if you are good enough, you are old enough” and it applies to Harry Gray. Despite his age, he could play a part in the firs team. It will be down to Daniel Farke to know how and when to use the young attacker next season. Hopefully he can replicate what his brother did in front of the Elland Road crowd.
