Leeds United headed into Saturday’s game against Wolves hoping that they can get a result to ease the pressure off themselves. The Whites were reeling of the back of a disappointing loss to Fulham.
The team was able to hold on for most of the game, with Marco Silva even admitting they should have scored. But an unfortunate goal from Gabriel Gudmundsson late in the game sealed all three points from the Londoners.
The discourse surrounding the result and the start of the season dominated the headlines around Elland Road. Many were already furious with the board failing to improve the attack on deadline day.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scores first ever Leeds United goal

Wolves took an early lead in what looked like it was going to be one of those games for Leeds. However, the Whites fought back and scored their first goal from open play this season. Dominic Calvert-Lewin leapt high and connected with a deflected cross to score his first goal in months.
What he did was sure to have infuriated Wolves fans. He cupped his ears, turned the back of his jersey and showed the home fans his name. The Leeds fans in the away end also joined in, singing ”We’ve scored a goal” after getting the equalizer.
Particularly satisfying for DCL who had been the subject of a chant from Wolves fans behind the home goal earlier in the game. Reminds them as he celebrates.

Calvert-Lewin becomes the second Leeds United attacker to find the back of the net this season after Lukas Nmecha.
Striker was under ‘big big pressure’
Former Premier League defender Ashley Williams said on BBC Match of the Day after the loss to Fulham that Calvert-Lewin was under big pressure. He was brought in as the main striker who had to deliver.
“There is big, big pressure on Calvert-Lewin to deliver, to stay fit, to stay on the pitch but also they have to supply him.
“I think today he had one chance, the header, which he should have done better with.
“They’ve all got to chip in and create a lot more.
“Yes, unlucky with the result today but they were still only getting a point, they don’t look like they’re getting three points because they’re not creating enough.”
Leeds fans will hope this goal is the first of many for the England star.
