Leeds United played a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at Elland Road on Saturday, in a game where fans will be adamant the Whites should have won. Another late goal cost them in the end.
Antoine Semenyo opened the scoring with a low free kick driven with power. Joe Rodon then equalized, and Sean Longstaff, who provided the assist for Rodon’s goal, put Leeds into a 2-1 lead.
It was a very scrappy second half, and the Whites looked to have closed off the game with three points in sight. But a late free kick was not cleared and a Bournemouth player latched on to score a late equalizer.

Saturday’s game held a bit of significance for some of the players on the pitch too, especially Tyler Adams. The Bournemouth midfielder left Leeds a few years ago, and made his return for the first time since his departure. When the line ups were being announced before kick off, Adams’ name was met with boos.

Fans will not forget that the American was part of a few players who jumped ship as soon as the club were relegated in 2023. He had an interview a few years ago, and his comments would have rubbed Leeds fans the wrong way even more:
“I resonate with those fans unbelievably well – to this day. Whether they say they hate me or not, I couldn’t care less.”
Bournemouth midfielder would have been a bit surprised
Adams however did change his tone when speaking about his return to Elland Road this past week. The midfielder spoke about how he had a good time at the club despite the negative reports. He even said he was eager about the opportunity to return to West Yorkshire for the game:
“Ah, I’m really looking forward to it. You know, I’ve said it since I’ve had the opportunity to play there that the environment there is is one of the best, if not the best that I’ve played in and the fans are just incredible.
“I created so many amazing relationships up north and I’m so thankful for my time there.
“And to be able to go back and and play against familiar faces, see familiar people, it’ll be an exciting time.”
